On the occasion of the World Poetry Day, the promotion of the poetry collection “Suteren” was held, published by Zaprokul, the new laureate of the prestigious poetry award “Novica Tadić”, the young poet Mata Uljarević.
The Zaprokul Commission, which consisted of Srba Ignjatović, Mirko Demić, Žarko Milenković, Zelidrag Nikčević and Vesna Trijić, awarded Uljarević the prize in 2022. They judged that in “Suteren” the typical Tadić bittersweet note, which is a feature of some of the best Serbian songs today, resonates quite clearly .
Poet Mato Uljarević said on this occasion that he is pleased to be the recipient of the “Novice Tadić” award because of the respect he has for the poetry of the famous poet. which transforms under the charge of that enormous energy and becomes the craziest and most horrible thing that human fantasy allows,” Uljarević assessed.
Nikčević, a member of the commission and a reviewer of the award-winning book, said that they received “about sixty very gifted manuscripts” for the competition, but that the members felt that Uljarević was better. According to him, Uljarević effectively registers our everyday life, summarizes absurd situations, and then alienates them. and textualizes, while his lyrical writings radiate indeterminacy and ambiguity.
Jelena Marićević Balać, literary critic and assistant professor of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, pointed out that Uljarević sent a mature and well-rounded manuscript. Marićević Balać already noticed at the first reading that Uljarević has a subtle and carefully conceived structure, which makes “Suteren” a poetry book, which “has a head and a tail”, and not just a collection of heterogeneous poems.
Vladimir Kolarić, editor of the “Presence” edition in which this collection was published and secretary of the Novica Tadić competition, also pointed out that on World Poetry Day, March 21, a new, sixth public call for young poets for the “Novica Tadić” literary competition was announced.
The Ministry of Culture of Serbia and Zaprokul competition, which lasts until April 24, affirms new voices in Serbian poetry, creators up to the age of 35 from Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro and abroad.
