In recent years, the Center has actively participated in UNESCO’s project Culture for Development Indicators Suite – CDIS. UNESCO launched the project to observe the contributions of culture to social development in countries across the globe. The project operator in Serbia was the Ministry of Culture and Information, while the Center examined the results according to indicators within the project’s methodology. The Center’s partners in implementing activities and gathering data were the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Creative Economy Group, and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.
The project analyzes the role of culture in seven spheres of social life (economy, government policies, education, social participation, the media and communication, heritage, and gender equality), by using a methodological tool for measuring results within 22 indicators, which create a DNA chain of culture in every country. This project became the base for forming a new global methodology within Agenda 2030, which also measures the contribution of culture to the completion of goals and social development.
